It’s summertime and I am in the mood for quick engaging stories I can enjoy while sitting in the sunshine with nice cold drink.
Mental Floss blogger, Ransom Riggs’s first book Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children is just that.
The thing that drew me to this book was actually the very cool preview video.
I love the idea of promoting books with video. Sometimes when I pick up a new book, the description on the back just doesn’t move me so I put it down, only to be told later that it is actually pretty great. The video idea takes boring descriptions out of the equation.
The book itself is actually more suited to young adults, but like I said, it is summertime and this is a perfect book to read by the pool.
It centers around children with strange abilities and it includes a lot of great old-timey photos. It is written to be a series and I read somewhere that it may have already been picked up by Fox studios, so there could be a movie in the future.
Happy Reading!
