My 2012 Resolutions

Happy New Year Everyone!

While I absolutely hate New Year’s Eve celebrations (the forced festive atmosphere and overpriced drinks piss me off), I love making New Year Resolutions.  Sometimes I succeed with my resolutions and sometimes they are forgotten by spring.  This year I am recycling some old resolutions, with a new plan.

Instead of declaring a vague goal and hoping to stumble upon success sometime in the new year, I am going to be checking in with myself (and posting here) every month on my progress.  So here are my 2012 Resolutions!

1.) Do something about the fact that I barely speak any Italian, despite having lived in Italy for over two years.  I plan to take a college course offered locally in Italian, but I am also going to use the mountain of Italian books, CDs, and software currently collecting dust at my house.

2.) Finally do a pull-up.  All I want is just one little pull-up!  This has been a resolution several years running, and I still have not managed to do it!  This year I will be trying different training plans and routines to get me to my goal.

3.) Run continuously for longer than five miles.  I am going to sign up for local 5ks throughout the year, but I plan on doing the Run to Pisa this fall to achieve my goal.   The Run to Pisa is between seven and eight miles, long enough that I will feel like a rockstar when I finish, and short enough that I minimize my chance of having a lung explode halfway through.

2011 seemed to be a rough year for everyone, and I am happy to say good riddance to it.  We are only a couple of hours into 2012, but I think this year is going to be great.  I hope everyone’s new year is off to a wonderful start!

Haha, I like the “minimize my chance of having a lung explode halfway through”…made me chuckle!

  2. Happy New Year 2012 🙂 have fun

    Zahir 🙂

  3. I want to learn Italian, too. I keep wanting to take a class, but I’m afraid to take one while I’m learning sign language.

Good luck with the pull-up! I can’t do any. However, I am up to 3 pushups…on a good day,
