Project 365

How does everyone feel about New Year’s Resolutions? I love them, except when I blow them off halfway through the year and fail to achieve even a single one (I’m looking at you, 2012 resolutions). So this year I am doing something a little different: a single resolution that requires daily commitment. I am not signing up for a huge time obligation, but I want something to be mindful of every day.

Enter Project 365. The only rule: take a picture every single day of 2013. It doesn’t matter if it is my DSLR, P&S, iPhone, or any other camera. The picture does not need to be aesthetic in any way, it just needs to be a picture. The idea is to document the small parts of my daily life, and maybe get some practice with basic photography principles.

I think I can do this.

So here is my first picture of 2013.

I took this picture around 1am on January 1st. I put these chalkboard stickers in an unsightly corner of my kitchen (above the radiator, next to the door to the utility room) and I use them to doodle. They make me smile, and my 2013 doodle makes me a little bit excited about this new year.

I contemplated posting my Project 365 pictures everyday, but I think I am going to stick to a weekly post as I am pretty sure no one wants daily pictures of what I am eating for dinner or whatever else I decide to photograph. I am interested to see what themes develop over this next year of daily picture taking.

Has anyone else made New Year’s Resolutions???

Resolutions? Hmmm besides fitness, well I guess for photography to complete a course I signed up for. 😉 I tried to do a photo a week but – yea…. I didn’t do so well. 😉 Looking forward to your project, Happy new Year!

What a good idea! One of my new year’s resolutions is to stop wearing my bicycle helmet indoors in 2013, -I think I can do this:) Happy New Year

  4. I’m not really into resolutions. If I want to change something, I want to be able to start whenever and not have an excuse to put it off.

So on January 2, I decided to keep in touch better with friends who live far away.
