My newest addiction is to teapots. I want to cultivate an inappropriately large collection to be used for the most mundane occasions.
I found my first member in a thrift shop tonight.
It is a full set of Zeh Sherzer Bavarian China, but I can’t figure out the date of the pieces.
My favorite part of the set is the teapot.
It is so elegant and art deco.
I think I will have to use this little gem for my first time hosting tea for the ladies this weekend!!
Happy Tea Time, everyone!
To begin, I can’t get over the coincidence between the title of your blog and your new hobby! I only vaguely remember Alice in Wonderland, however, at least for me, the part that I remember the most – and quite frankly associate with the story – is when Alice is stuffed into a teapot. An entire genre of rides have been concocted based on Alice in Wonderland and teapots/teacups.
Anyway, out of complete curiosity, I looked into your quandary (i.e., “It is a full set of Zeh Sherzer Bavarian China, but I can’t figure out the date of the pieces.”).
I hope the terms “Sherzer Bavarian” were mistyped above and are not on the actual pieces (I think the actual company is called Zeh, Scherzer & Co. A.G.). Otherwise the china may be from China (or some other knock-off country). Nevertheless, I located the link below. It outlines the marks used by Zeh, Scherzer & Co. A.G., along with the corresponding dates. I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the link you sent! I checked it out and I found the mark on the bottom of my pieces (2-27) that gives me a clue about possible dates.
